WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED?

Since the publication of the Village Appraisal document members of the Community Action Forum have been working with the local authorities and other bodies to address the various issues raised. By 2006 we had achieved the following:

  • Bus services from Stokenchurch to High Wycombe in the evening and at weekends.
    • A peak hour link with the Oxford Tube at Lewknor for services to Oxford and London.
    • Contributed to the Bucks County Council Local Transport Plan.
  • Seen the opening of a police office in Stokenchurch.
  • Much improved recycling facilities.
  • Carried out litter picks and organised ‘environmental’ walks.
  • Witnessed a much faster response rate to the removal of abandoned vehicles.
  • Campaigned for a review of the speed limits in the area and for other road safety issues including unsafe road junctions and the need for crossing facilities in Studley Green.
  • One of our members works closely with the M40 Chilterns Environmental Group, campaigning for quieter road surfaces and other environmental protection from the motorway.
  • Seen improvements in the children’s playgrounds in Radnage, Studley Green and Stokenchurch.
  • Lobbied for a skateboard park in Stokenchurch and for a cycle loop to Radnage and Studley Green.
  • One of our number is a member of the STOPAG team, helping the elderly and housebound in Stokenchurch.
  • And finally we have contributed to the Wycombe District Council’s successor to the current Wycombe Plan.

WHAT HAS NOT BEEN ACHIEVED – YET!

  • Getting a gym installed in the Stokenchurch Community Centre in Tippings Way.
  • Establishing proper access to the tennis courts at the Community Centre.
  • Actually getting the skateboard park in Stokenchurch.
  • Having a decent regular bus service to Oxford.
  • Maintaining the move to more ‘kerbside’ collections of recyclable’ household waste.
  • Tidying up Muds Bank and improving the facilities there.
  • Helping to improve road safety by monitoring the implementation of the plans that are about to come to fruition.

We will continue to make every effort to help make these things happen.
