Ibstone, Radnage [Water End], Cadmore End, Wheeler End retain school journeys, now operated by Carousel, but otherwise are served Monday to Friday by Walters using a silver-liveried minibus. The timetable is quite complicated, so the following summary is an imperfect substitute for studying it closely. Mostly, it provides a connecting service to the main 40, connecting at Piddington or Stokenchurch as appropriate, giving 2 return shopping journeys, plus evening peak hour returns from High Wycombe. On non-schooldays, a morning peak journey runs into High Wycombe (to preserve travel-to-work facility on those days by substituting for the school service). A new facility is that the morning shopping journey continues to Marlow giving about a couple of hours there.
Full timetable details can be obtained here.
Of other pre-existing services, Red Rose 275 High Wycombe-Oxford continues Mon-Fri giving journeys to Oxford at approx. 0726, 0948, 1648 and from Oxford departing 1410 and 1740. The route in Stokenchurch has been amended to serve New Road and Marlow Road. Motts M1 Stokenchurch-Reading becomes a single return journey Mon-Sat leaving Stokenchurch Kings Arms at 0900, leaving Reading at 1245.
Other excellent news is that National Express 737 (Oxford-High Wycombe-Hemel Hempstead-Luton Airport-Hatfield-Stansted Airport) now stops at Stokenchurch (Kings Arms). Although this service can be used for Stokenchurch-High Wycombe trips, prices are higher and free pensioner travel is not available. Buckinghamshire County Council have produced a booklet containing the timetables for all the services which is available from Stokenchurch library. Arriva have also produced their own timetable for the 40.
